Xi Jinping: The Biggest Threat is Corruption

On July 1, the Communist Party celebrated its 95th birthday at the People’s Great Hall in Beijing. Xi Jinping delivered a speech, emphasizing that the anti-corruption campaign will continue and that no one is above the law.

“The greatest threat facing our Party as the ruling party is corruption. … The anti-corruption struggle is achieving overwhelming victories.”
“To implement the rule of law, the core is to integrate upholding the Party’s leadership, the people as the masters, and the rule of law. The key is to adhere to the Party’s leadership in the legislature, in law enforcement, in judicial support, and in abiding by the law. To firmly establish the authority of the Constitution in the entire society and promote the spirit of the Constitution, all organizations and individuals must act within the scope of constitutional law and no one shall have any privilege above the Constitution.”
Analysts observed that the above rhetoric was meant to warn Jiang Zemin’s fraction that there will not be impunity for them in Xi’s anti-corruption campaign.
