Liu Yunshan: Continue to Fortify and Expand the Field of Mainstream Opinion on the Internet

On June 20, 2010, the Minister of China’s Propaganda Department, Liu Yunsan, sent a congratulatory letter to the opening ceremony for the creation of People’s Net Company Limited and the online opening of “People’s Search (www.goso.cn)” test version. Liu said, “…People’s Daily Group…has become the major platform for transmitting the Party’s voice and expanding the field of mainstream opinion. The creation of People’s Net Company Limited signals significant progress for People’s Net’s transformation into an enterprise entity. The online opening of “People’s Search” test version demonstrates the technical advance of People’s Net. This will play an important role in leading the innovation of major central government news networks and the development of the whole Internet’s propaganda work.” “Wish People’s Net … will become a world famous website publishing in multiple languages. It will be a grand and globalizing media, having full coverage; it will firmly control the direction of public opinion; and continuously fortify and expand the field of mainstream opinion on the Internet.”

Xinhua: The Compliment of China Outshining Has a Hidden Evil Intention

Xinhua published a commentary article on June 20 to “warn” Chinese that the western media report naming China as the sole country prospering in the middle of world financial crisis is a “compliment” with an evil intention. The article says, “In recent years, various bizarre comments on China have appeared now and then in western media, for example, “China Threat,” “China Being Responsible,” and so on. Most recently, a new name of “China Outshining” (in the global financial crisis) came up in the western media.” “The so-called ‘China Outshining’ is to say that, in the middle of the world financial crisis, western countries are burdened with economic difficulties, while China (has moved) all the way up, is gaining the most (from the crisis), and has come out as the biggest winner.” The purpose of the compliment is to “…harm China. Their intention is to pressure China to take on disproportionate international responsibilities beyond (China’s) ability, and damage China’s relationship with other countries, particularly the developing countries.”

Hu Jintao Emphasizes the Importance of the CCP’s Grass Roots Development

On June 12, 2010, the politburo of the Chinese Communist Party Central Committee held its 21st group study on the issue of strengthening the CCP’s grass roots development. Hu Jintao hosted the meeting and emphasized the importance of Party organization at the grass roots level. He said that the more complicated and labile the international climate becomes, and the deeper the changes happening in domestic society, the more important the grass roots Party organization will be. Wu Jieming, professor from China National Defense University, and Gao Yongzhong, researcher from the Institute of Party Construction of the Central Organization Department, also gave lectures at the meeting.

Lack of Core Technology Hinders China’s Dream to Become an Auto Giant

Although China’s annual car sales topped the world at 13.5 million in 2009, it is too early to celebrate.
The real winners, according to the author, are actually foreign companies.

China’s automotive industry depends heavily on foreign companies to supply parts. Especailly regarding auto electronics, engines, and transmissions, foreign company’s market share is 90% .

China has yet to have its own brand. Its advantage in automotive production is low cost laborers. he profit margin is quite low. Without its own brands, China’s astronomical auto sales volume can only help others.

Promote the Communist Party Organization in Private Businesses

A leadership group for Party development in private businesses was formed in Huaibei City, Anhui Province. In a letter to all private business owners in the city, the group demanded that the Party development in private firms should be the responsibility of Party organizations of all levels.

Party members working in those firms are called on to take the lead and become role models.

In Huaibei, as of December 2009, 217 new party branches had been set up in private companies; 184 party members who disappeared into private companies were recovered.

Who Pushed Obama to Sell Missiles to Taiwan?

After the U.S. government approved the Lockheed-Martin sale of Patriotic air defense missiles to Taiwan, China denounced the deal. Obama’s “face change” two months after his successful China visit was due to a joint lobbying by the government, the Congress, the Pentagon and defense contractors.

Several key players were named as key promoters for the missile sale: Lockheed-Martin CEO Robert Stevens, Senator John McCain, Deputy Secretary of Defense William Lynn, U.S.-Taiwan Business Council President Rupert Hmmond-Chambers and Taiwanese businessman Li Hua-Der.

The author believes that this deal triggered a red light to Sino-American relationship.

Argentine Judge Issues Arrest Warrants; Jiang Zemin, Luo Gan charged with crimes against Falun Gong

On Dec. 17，a Judge in Argentina issued arrest warrants for two retired Chinese Communist leaders for their crime of persecuting Falun Gong.

In the historic ruling, federal court judge Octavio Araoz de Lamadrid charged former president Jiang Zemin and his Police Chief Luo Gan with crimes against humanity. Luo Gan is the former head of the "610 Office," the extra-constitutional agency that carries out the persecution.

“This is the true reality of the creation of a Chinese Gestapo with the objective of exterminating thousands of innocent people [including women, the elderly, and children] under the control, direction, supervision, and coordination of Luo Gan, the accused … .” Judge Lamadrid wrote of the 610 Office in his decision.

Xingjiang Needle Stabbing Caused by Failed Ethnic Policy

Hong Kong based analyst Li Yi believes China’s policy for ethnic minorities is the root cause of violence in Xinjiang, including the most recent needle stabbing of hundreds.

The CCP’s preferential treatment of ethnic minorities provides a venue for expressing resentment by the Uyhgurs, who dislike the government’s political suppression and economic exploitation.

The Han Chinese feel they are the victims of reverse discrimination. They often feel unprotected by the government during ethnic conflicts.

Many people realized that the botched policy is the culprit and call for the ousting of Xinjiang’s hardline Party secretary, Wang Lequan.
