General Luo Yuan Recommends Ways to Deal with THAAD Including Military Attack

Well-known Chinese news site Sina recently reported that the Chinese public opinion against the South Korean deployment of the U.S. THAAD (Terminal High Altitude Area Defense) system is intensifying. Chinese major general Luo Yuan published an article indicating that China is effectively in military confrontation with South Korea and China should consider a direct “surgical” military attack to remove the THAAD base. Luo pointed out that China has warned South Korea repeatedly not to allow THAAD’s deployment, which significantly breaks the regional strategic security balances. Luo’s article listed ten recommendations that also include employing anti-radiation missiles to destroy electronic components of the THAAD system, deploying overwhelmingly more missiles on the Chinese side near THAAD to obtain the advantage of saturation, working more closely with Russia on the international stage, and imposing trade sanctions against South Korea. However, South Korean just reconfirmed with the United States on the deployment schedule. In the meantime, the Chinese Foreign Minister and the North Korean Deputy Foreign Minister met and agreed to work hard on strengthening their relationship.
