During his visit to India, Russian President Vladimir Putin was asked in an interview whether he believes humans can achieve immortality through technology — a topic he had previously discussed privately with Chinese leader Xi Jinping.
Putin replied that “everything has an end, and only God is eternal,” emphasizing that true immortality is impossible and that humanity must respect natural laws.
However, he acknowledged that human lifespans can be significantly extended, noting that India’s average life expectancy has more than doubled in recent decades thanks to advances in medical science.
The interview came after the release of a video from China’s September 3 military parade, in which Putin and Xi discussed organ transplantation and longevity. In that clip — later removed by Chinese state media — Putin suggested that repeated organ transplants might become possible as biotechnology progresses, while Xi mentioned that some experts predict humans could live up to 150 years.
